Merry Christmas everyone. Hope you had a good holiday so far. The NHL players took Christmas off, so unfortunately we were not entertained for one day. Oh well, it was still a pretty good week for the league.

Tyler Blair finally pulls together a strong week, producing the most points of the week out of all teams with 45.80 points. He also becomes the first time to break the 500-point mark. Congratulations to him on that. The performance this week ends Kevin Giroux’s 4 week streak of gains towards 1st place. Tyler Blair managed to have 11.6 more points this week to make the current gap at 21.35. This strong performance had a lot to do with his backup goaltender in Tim Thomas as he posted a shutout and a few wins. It is difficult to say if his team will find back the consistency that it enjoyed earlier in the season that propelled him to 1st place. This is strong performance is just a one week thing and Kevin Giroux’s slow down is also a one week thing, Tyler Blair could be in jepoardy of losing 1st place.

There was actually some movement in the top 5 this week, with Kevin Lee edging out Joel Doonan by 0.7 points to take 3rd place. These two teams have a bitter rivalry where both have clearly stated they would want nothing better than to beat each other. Their sparing matches through emails are similar to the war or words that NHL GMs Brian Burke and Kevin Lowe have going on. Both have solid teams and have been very close to each other all year long. Who exactly will come out on top between the two will be an exciting storyline to follow. With Kevin Lee expecting the start of Mats Sundin any day now, it would seem that the favor has tipped in his favor, at least on paper. Or he very well could get injured on his first shift/game.
